Plant Anatomy Laboratory

Aims

The Plant Anatomy Laboratory belongs to the Department of Agrarian Botany and conducts technical activites to support the research carried out by the Department, activities which are also related to graduate and post-graduate teaching and services to third parties.

Structure

The laboratory is coordinated by Agr. Eng. D. Medan, with the assistance of Agr. Eng. G. Mónica Tourn. Every necessary equpment is supplied by the School, and funds are also received through Research Subsidies from some Department faculty members.

Human Resources

  • Dirección: La dirección del laboratorio está a cargo del Ing. Agr. D. Medan.
  • Personal Técnico: Técnica en Floricultura Gabriela Zarlavsky.

Services

The services provided by the Lab are directed to professors and/or investigators requring histological preparations, anatomic identification of vegetal material, micro-photographies of preparations, or the use of the Lab equipment by researchers with certified technical experience.

Teaching and academic activity

The support of the Laboratory is basic for the postgraduate course on "Usual Techniques in Vegetal Histoloy" (FAUBA School of Graduates) and part of the practical assignments corresponding to "Higher Plants Reproductive Biology" (FAUBA School of Graduates) and the update and intensification course "Plants Form: New Approach on Plant Morphology and Architecturel", including some lectures on plant histological techniques.
