Agro-food Products Testing Laboratory

Aim

The aim of our Lab is to provide technical and scientific support and advise to the agri-food industry as well as to regulatory agencies on issues related to the agri-foods safety and quality.

As far as extension activities are concerned, the lab organizes technical updating courses and provides advisory services to third parties on manufacturing processes and quality control.

Structure

This Lab began its advisory service in 1996, and is equipped with equipment to perform basic chemical and micro-biological analysis for the treatment of foods of plant origin.

It also includes a site for the manufacture of fermented beverages, another for tinned vegetables and an olive and olive oil pilot plant.

Regarding its organization, a qualified team including technicians, advisors and an administrative staff who ensure that the analysis and services are provided with efficiency.

Services

The services described below are requested by businesses, producers, small and medium business companies, public agencies and individuals.

Fees for reports and results, and delivery terms depend on the service required.

Fermented Beverages

Including fine wines, special wines, champagne, vermouth, beer, cider, gas alcoholic beverages.

  • Design of wineries for the manufacture of fermented beverages, including direct costs assessment.
  • Commercial and safety assessment based on chemical and micro-biological analysis, pursuant to the Argentine Food Code (CAA) standards.
  • Advise and control of manufacturing processes from the beginning to the end.
  • Sensorial analysis according to the analytical system in wines.
Non-alcohol beverages

Including vegetable juices, non-alcohol bitter drinks, non-alcohol beer, non-alcohol gasified drinks.

  • Commercial and safety assessment according to chemical and micro-biological analysis pursuant to the Argentine food code (CAA) standards.
  • Advise and control of the complete manufacturing processes.
Canned Vegetables

Including salty, sweet and bitter-sweet tinned foods obtained by fermentation, dehydrating, irradiation, pasteurization and freezing processes.

  • Design of home-made or industrial tinned vegetables plants, including direct costs assessment.
  • Commercial and safety assessment according to chemical and micro-biological analysis, pursuant to the Argentine Food Code (CAA) standards.
  • Assessment on good manufacturing, follow-up and control practices throughout the process.
  • Assessment on labeling and canning standards according to existing regulations.
  • Safety controls of products and raw materials, supervision of illnesses transmitted by food of vegetable origin.
  • Assessment and process for the registration of manufactured vegetable products.
Table Olives
  • Design and sizing of the industrial plant for the production of black and green olives following existing manufacturing processes.
  • Assessment on good manufacturing practices throughout the process.
  • Idem, tinned foods.
Olive Oil
  • Planning, sizing and design of olive oil industrial plants. Necessary equipment. Direct Costs Assessment.
  • Commercial aptitude assessment through chemical analysis pursuant to the CAA standards.
