What do I need to do to study in FAUBA?

Full programs
  • Contact the International Relations Department to obtain the necessary information for choosing a program.
  • You must apply for a vacancy at your country’s Argentine Consulate according to Ministerial Resolution #152/90. MECyT Argentina.

Course exchange in a limited period of time.
  • Contact the International Relations Department to obtain the necessary information for choosing your courses.
  • According to regulation #20.699/06 of the National Direction of Migrations, students who wish to participate in an exchange program for a limited period of time must enter the country with a valid Passport and then apply for a temporary residence that will allow them to study and remain in Argentina in a legal and regulated manner. Applications for residency must be submitted to the National Direction of Migrations in our country.
  • Enrollment will be definitive once the proper documents are submitted to the International Relations Department according to current regulations.

  • DResearch or internship in an academic Department or an specific area
    • Students must report the specific subject of the Research or Internship they wish to participate in at FAUBA
    • The International Relations Department will ask for the collaboration of specialized faculty members. Then, it will contact the student in order to coordinate the project.

What documents do I need to submit?

  1. Admission form
  2. Form of FAUBA courses to be taken
  3. Official transcript of completed courses (for students) or the obtained degree.
  4. CV
  5. Certified photocopy of passport
  6. Certification of temporary residence issued by the National Direction of Migrations in Argentina. For further information go to www.migraciones.gov.ar
  7. International medical insurance covering accidents and disability, submitting the original for validation
  8. A certified domain of the Spanish language. Students coming from countries that speak other languages must take a leveling test.
  9. Two 4 x 4 photos
  10. Signed regulations.

What are my responsibilities?

  1. To have medical insurance with the proper certification, covering the entire period of attendance to the School of Agronomy
  2. To be in Buenos Aires the first day of classes.
  3. To abide Argentine legislation, particularly the one regarding residency permissions.
  4. To behave in a way that doesn’t damage the interests of the School of Agronomy, the student’s place of accommodation or the Argentine State.
  5. If the student is participating in an internship or taking courses, they must submit a brief report of performed activities within a month after finishing their studies. If they are enrolled in a full program, the report must be submitted every semester.
  6. To pass the courses or seminars selected by the student, abiding the rules of the School of Agronomy.
  7. Students will be responsible for costs of accommodation, study materials, food, transport and extra-curricular activities.
  8. To pay in time the fees established by current regulation.

What’s the fee?

Students will be responsible for all costs regarding study materials, food, transport, and extra-curricular activities. Students who are involved in an exchange must pay an administrative fee of USD 150

  • Courses from undergraduate programs and intensification courses, professional updating and continuing education: the equivalent in pesos of U$S 48 (forty-eight US dollars) per credit.
  • Tutorship: the equivalent in pesos of U$S 1/16 class hours (1 credit)
  • Costs for students from MERCOSUR countries will be charged in local currency.

What do I get when I finish?

Providing the student has met the requirements listed above, the School of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires will issue the following documentation:

a. Certificate of Enrollment:

Each student will receive a Certificate of Enrollment once they submit the required and certified documentation at the International Relations Department.

b. Student Certificate:

Whenever students need one for consular or migratory processing, the School´s Student Department will give a certificate that demonstrates they are enrolled.

c. Grades or Internship Certificate:

The School of Agronomy’s Department of International Relations will send certificates for each student to their Universities of origin once the academic period is over.

Grades will be informed within 20 working days following the end of courses.

Students who fail to pass a course can take the final exam in the following call stipulated in the School of Agronomy’s academic calendar, under their responsibility and abiding by all current regulations.

Official grades are ONLY those informed by the Students Department of the School of Agronomy

In the case of students participating in an internship at the institution, the professor in charge that was designated by the School of Agronomy will supervise and accompany said internship. Within 15 days after the internship is over, the professor will present a report to the International Relations Department indicating activities, accomplishments and recommendations for the future.

What other services does FAUBA provide?

Foreign students admitted to the School of Agronomy will have access to the following services as well as the rest of the students in the School.

Cultural Activities

The School of Agronomy offers the chance to participate in the FAUBA choir, formed by students, faculty and staff from different academic units. The choir works with a wide repertoire that includes academic and popular music and gives concerts both in and out of the School scene, including Brazil and Spain.

Sports Activities

Foreign students can participate in sports activities organized by the School for its students. Sports include chess, athletics, basketball, handball, women’s hockey, soccer (11 and 5 ), swimming, paddle, table tennis, rugby, volleyball and tennis. These sports participates in different tournaments all throughout the year, so students can either integrate the School’s official teams or just practice these sports as a leisure activity. Teams train once or twice a week at the Communications Club and other sport facilities in Buenos Aires.

Library Access

The Central Library has a valuable, multi-language collection of books, cd-roms, videos, magazines (printed, microfilmed, electronic), congress minutes, post-graduate thesis and intensification works on every theme studied at FAUBA: agronomy, agro-foods, floriculture, gardening, landscape design, environmental studies, agricultural economics and management.

The Reading Hall is located on the ground floor of the School of Agronomy´s Central Pavilion. It has a capacity for 100 users and the entire book collection organized by themes in open-bookcases.
Hours: Reading Hall GF: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 9 pm; Saturdays, 10 am to 8 pm
Newspaper and Magazines: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 7 pm

The ONLINE LIBRARY CATALOG and FILE INDEX are available at both, the Reading Hall and the Newspapers and Magazines Library, for students to search Library collections by author, title, theme, etc. Location of the material is indicated next to each item.

Center for Computer Services

Foreign students can use the School’s computer lab for which they must acquire a username and password that will be provided at the International Relations Department

Where can I live?

The International Relations Department has an accommodation database that is commonly used by exchange students and faculty. The School will not be responsible for these places.

How do I get to FAUBA?

The School of Agronomy is located in Av. San Martín 4453, in the Agronomía neighborhood, between San Martín, Chorroarín, Constituyentes, and Beiró Avenues. Students can access on public transportation: by train, metro or bus.

Train
  • The General Urquiza train line, which goes from Federico Lacroze to General Lemos stations, gets you to the School. You have to get off at Pedro Arata station.
  • The frequency of trains leaving from F.Lacroze station, Monday to Friday, is every 8 minutes. The duration of the trip to Arata is 5 minutes.
Subway
  • The closest subway station is Los Incas, in line B.
  • The trip from L.N.Alem station to Los Incas is 22 minutes-long.
  • If you are near a different subway line (A-C-D-E), remember you can combine with C and D lines at Carlos Pellegrini station in line B.
  • Once you get to the station, you are 15 blocks away from the School. You can either walk or take the 80 or 87 bus line and get off in the corner of Los Incas Avenue and Constituyentes Avenue.
Urban Buses
  • Bus lines are located in the two exits of the School
  • The following lines get you to the School: 47 - 57 - 78 - 80 - 105 - 111 - 113 - 123 - 133 - 146.
